General Conformation:

Rats should overall look healthy, with bright clear eyes and nose, good weight, and active. Does should be long, and racy, whereas males tend to have a bigger Structure. They should be overall clean and well groomed. There should be no evidence of illness, parasites, deformity, disease, or obesity. The body should be firm, polished, yet slightly rounded. The rat should have a well-proportioned head, in regards to the rest of the body, with a short profile, and ears spaced well apart. The nose should not be sharp or thin, but open and rounded. The eyes should be round, large and clean, with a decent space between them (not to far not to close). The tail should be at least the length of the body, round, and an extension of the spine. It shouldn't have any kinds, or evidence of trauma or deformity. It should be firm, and taper to a delicate point at the end. The coat should be smooth, dense, and shiny. All extremities (minus the ears) should be covered in some sort of hair. (Bucks tend to have harsher, longer hair) The rat should have no missing teeth, and be able to close his mouth in a healthy and normal fashion. The top incisors should fit in front of the lower.
Rex:

Rex rats should have an evenly concentrated curly or wavy coat. The stomach may be looser curls. As sparse guard hairs as possible, are preferred. A rex rat will look overall muted than a standard coat, however should not appear dull. The hair is overall courser, but should not be unpleasant to touch. Whiskers should also be curly.
Velveteen or Velour:

Teddy Rexes are usually very hard to tell apart from Rexes. Teddy Rexes' fur is more crimped/crinkled then really curly. Not related to the Rex gene.
Satin:
Satin rats have softer, slightly longer (although not always) Fur. It should have a soft satin luster. There are many variations of satin coats.
Hairless:

Hairless rats should have as few hairs as possible. The skin should appear healthy, supple, and free from scars or any other blemishes. Hairless rats tend to have some wrinkles, however the ears should be wrinkle free.
Tailless:
Tailless rats should have a natural absence of a tail. There should be no evidence of a cropped or docked tail. The rat should behave and move like a normal rat, free from any problems commonly associated with this variety. The rump may appear rounder than a standard rat.
Dumbo:

Dumbos have Big, Round, Low set ears. The ears should be placed proportionately as low as possible on the head. They should not cause the head to look unbalanced.
Dwarf:

Dwarf rats shall follow the standard or classic type in build and general appearance with the following differences: An adult Dwarf female is approximately 1/2 the size of a standard female adult. A male is about 2/3rds smaller then a standard male. The Dwarf rat shall look similar to a standard adult in body portions and appear healthy and fit in all the same ways as expected on a standard rat (e.g.: healthy eyes, coat, muscle tone).
